Personal home care in Winnipeg from Friendly Caregiver Seniors Care is respectful, one-to-one help with the private daily routines: bathing, dressing, grooming, moving safely around the house, and meals, in your loved one’s own home, from the same caregiver each visit, with a 3-hour minimum, seven days a week. Call 204-798-0490 or contact us. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Who personal care is for
- A parent who is managing at home but no longer managing the bathroom, the stairs or the stove alone
- Someone coming home after a fall or a hospital stay
- A senior living with dementia at home, whose family wants the same familiar caregiver for the daily routines
What a personal care visit includes
We build the plan with you. A visit can include:
- Bathing or showering, hair, shaving and grooming
- Dressing, morning and evening
- Getting up, moving around the house, a steady arm on the stairs
- Watching for fall risks around the house
- Gentle reminders: medication that is already set out, fluids, appointments
- Breakfast, lunch or supper, and a snack before we leave
- Light housekeeping, below
- Company; a visit is not a checklist
The plan adapts as needs change: three mornings a week can become daily, then overnight care or respite, without changing agencies.
Light housekeeping and meal preparation
Housekeeping and meals are part of a personal care visit, not a separate service. Within the visit, the caregiver can tidy, do the dishes, run a load of laundry and change the linens; cook a home-made meal and leave portions for later; plan meals and pick up groceries together; and keep an eye on whether your loved one is eating and drinking. We are not a cleaning company and we do not deliver prepared meals.
What personal care does not include
Our care is non-medical. Friendly Caregiver does not employ licensed nurses, so our caregivers do not give injections, change dressings, administer medication, or provide nursing or palliative care. Our visits run alongside WRHA hours or instead of them; we cover the daily help, not the medical side.
The same caregiver, every visit
Because personal care is intimate, the owner, Loreta Stukaite, matches one caregiver to your family herself and comes to the first visit with them. After that, the same caregiver returns for every scheduled visit, in some families for years; if your caregiver is away, Loreta tells you who is coming and when.
“One of the things that has always stood out to me is Loreta’s ability to thoughtfully match caregivers with each client’s personality and needs. She has a real talent for finding the right people.” Heather C., who first called Friendly Caregiver over 11 years ago
How it starts
- Call 204-798-0490 or send the contact form.
- A free consultation in the home with Loreta about where help is needed.

- Care usually starts within days. You set the days and hours, from three hours a visit up to 24-hour coverage.
What it costs
Personal care is billed by the hour with a 3-hour minimum per visit. Rates depend on the care plan, so we do not publish a price list; you get a quote on the free consultation call, with no obligation. Self and Family Managed Care funding can pay for our visits, and we provide clear invoices for your SFMC records.
Where we serve
Winnipeg: the senior’s own home, and inside 55+ buildings, assisted living and retirement residences when a family wants more help than the building provides.
Screened and insured
Every caregiver has a criminal record check, an adult abuse registry check and a child abuse registry check before starting with a family. Friendly Caregiver Seniors Care is insured, locally owned in Winnipeg and family-run since 2009.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum visit for personal care in Winnipeg?
Three hours per visit, seven days a week, anywhere in Winnipeg: long enough for a bath, a meal and the dishes without anyone rushing.
Can we keep our WRHA home care and add your personal care?
Yes. Many of our families keep their assessed WRHA hours and add private hours for evenings, weekends or a longer morning routine; Self and Family Managed Care funding can pay for the private hours. The WRHA Home Care intake line is 204-788-8330.
How quickly can personal care start after a hospital discharge?
Usually within days of the free consultation, sometimes sooner. If your parent is being discharged from HSC, St. Boniface, Grace, Concordia, Seven Oaks or Victoria this week, call 204-798-0490 before the discharge date.
Manitoba does not license private home care agencies, so how are your caregivers screened?
Every caregiver completes a criminal record check, an adult abuse registry check and a child abuse registry check before their first visit, and Loreta attends that visit herself. The Manitoba Health home care FAQ confirms there is no provincial licence, so ask any agency this question.
